Other Accomplishments
Johnny Chan is a legend in the poker world for winning nine W.S.O.P. gold bracelets (tied with Doyle Brunson and Phil Hellmuth). What is most impressive is that two of the bracelets were from back to back W.S.O.P. Championships in 1987 and 1988. Furthermore, he almost won in 1989, but finished second to a then young Phil Hellmuth.

His second W.S.O.P. championship victory versus Eric Seidel was repeatedly played in the movie Rounders. Johnny also had a role in that movie fictitiously showing him losing a hand to Matt Damon. In the end, the movie immortalized Johnny Chan to the general public as the most dangerous and feared poker player in the world, which the poker world already knew.

Johnny Chan, along with Doyle Brunson, are the only living card players to have twice won the World Series of Poker. Johnny Chan was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2002.
